Innovate in India (i3)
- Department of Biotechnology launched the first ever Industry-Academia mission “Innovate in India” to accelerate biopharmaceutical development in India.
- It will be implemented by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) - a Public Sector Undertaking of DBT.
- The programme will specifically focus on the development of new vaccines, bio-therapeutics, diagnostics and medical devices to better address the rising burden of diseases in the country.
- The programme will witness an investment of USD 250 million with USD 125 million as a loan from World Bank to promote entrepreneurship and indigenous manufacturing in the sector.
Survey by Airport Authority of India
- Recently, Airport Authority of India has conducted survey among non-metro airports in the country in the category of Customer satisfaction.
- Raipur airport in Chhattisgarh emerged on top among non-metro airports followed by Udaipur, Amritsar and Dehradun airports.
- Tiruchi airport in Tamilnadu emerged as fifth best and top among AAI managed airports in southern region.
- Various parameters were set to rate the airports which included cleanliness, toilet facilities, car parking, trolley facility and other infrastructure facilities and staff behavior.
Tirupati Varaha
- It is the new cross-bred pig which suits the agro-climatic conditions of Andhra Pradesh.
- It is the product of cross breeding between indigenous pigs and Large White Yorkshire (LWY) for efficiency of feed conversion, production and reproduction.
- It is developed by the All India Coordinated Research Project, a unit of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
- Its characteristics will soon be registered with the National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources.
National database on Undertrials
- The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is working on a national digital database of undertrials.
- The data will be uploaded from the district centres.
- When operational, the database will make available at the push of key information on undertrials languishing in jails across the country.
- Recently, Legal Assistance Establishments has been established which are one-point centres where undertrials or their kin or legal representatives can view information about their cases with video-conferencing facilities.
Three world records in a week
- The Andhra Pradesh government has recently received official certificate form Guinness book of world records acknowledging 3 world records by students of A.P social welfare residential educational institutions’ Society.
- The students’ dance performance in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati achieved these records.
