Kulbhushan Jadhav
- Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav was awarded the death sentence by a Pakistan military court on charges of terrorism and spying.
- International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague has stayed his execution. In a petition to the ICJ, India had accused Pakistan of gross violation of international laws.
- The ICJ is a part of the United Nations, and its judgments have binding force and are without appeal for the parties concerned.
Integrated Theatre Command
- An integrated theatre command envisages a unified command of the three Services, under a single commander, for geographical theatres that are of security concern.
- The commander of such a force will be able to bring to bear all resources at his disposal.
- The Indian armed forces currently have 17 commands.
- A committee appointed by the Defence Ministry has recommended creating 3 integrated theatre commands of the Indian armed forces — northern, western and southern — instead of the 17 in place currently.
Floating Rate Bond
- A bond whose interest amount fluctuates in step with the market interest rates, or some other external measure is called Floating Rate Bond.
- Price of floating rate bonds remains relatively stable because neither a capital gain nor a capital loss occurs as market interest rates go up or down.
Integrated Case Management Information System
- The system will help litigants access data and retrieve information online.
- It will be a step towards a paperless Supreme Court.
- Digital filing of cases would make the judicial system “extremely transparent” and rule out any manipulation of records.
