• Coal & Lignite Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have adopted innovative techniques in addition to traditional methods of plantation.
• They are Coal India Limited (CIL), NLC India Limited (NLCIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
• Green cover – It includes 3 tier plantation, seed ball plantation, Miyawaki planation, High-Tech cultivation, bamboo plantation, and plantation on overburden dumps using drip irrigation, etc.

SHAKTI Scheme

• SHAKTI - Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala (Coal) Transparently in India.
• Launched in – 2017, by the Ministry of Coal.
• It is a transparent way of allocating coal to Power Sector.
