Definition for democracy is not needed, introduction must be simplified form of an answer that you are going to give further. For a good answer, first you need to get the crux of the question and have to know what are things that should not be written. Here events happened during emergency are not needed.
You need to tell how the foundations of democracy in India withstood the emergency, ex: important amendments made in Parliament, misuse of judiciary, legislature. How India over came this. This you need to explain in the answer. Keep Writing.
