· Since it is a family based business, participation of women will be more which empowers them both socially & economically.
· Proper domestic trade and export of camel’s milk and its products would help India to attain its aim to double farmers’ income by 2022.
· Higher production of camels’ milk will ensure food security of downtrodden and the destitutes’.
How it could be achieved?
· Encourage farmers to form self-help groups, farmers’ producer companies or cooperatives to undertake the domestic trade and export of camel milk and its products.
· Create proper processing and value addition centres.
· Encourage start-ups to market camel milk and its products through e-marketing. It will generate more employment opportunities.
Way forward
· Governments in collaboration with the scientists should take steps to boost the inherent milk-yielding potential of Indian camels and to develop various technologies to manufacture value-added products from their milk.
