Planet Parade

Six planets including Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, and Neptune are currently forming a breath-taking arc in night sky.

• A ‘planet parade’ refers to a situation when several planets in our solar system are visible in the night sky, at the same time.
• It is not a technical term in astronomy.
• “Planets have different motions and They move at different rates compared to the other stars.
• Not all of them are visible in the sky every day, but sometimes a position comes about so that many or all the planets are visible at the same time, or within a few hours of each other.
• Planet parades aren’t super rare, but they don’t happen every year.
• According to the NASA website, the last such planet parade occurred in May-June 2024, when all planets of the solar system were visible in the morning sky.
• Five out of the seven planets (the eighth being Earth, where we live) are visible to the naked eye.
  • The other two require some form of magnification to be seen, because of how far they are from the Sun and Earth.

Haji Pir Pass

• Haji Pir pass was the area of contention during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.
• The war resulted in India capturing the entire Haji Pir bulge including the 8,652 feet high Haji Pir pass in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
• Haji Pir Pass is situated nearly 8 km inside the Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

Gates-Cambridge Impact Prize, 2025

• The Gates-Cambridge Impact Prize was established by The Gates Cambridge Trust in October 2000.
• Impact award is defined as a demonstrable contribution to change in various fields, including the economy, society, culture, the environment, public policy, health, and quality of life.
• The winners of the award will receive 5,000 (pound sterling) and be invited to participate in our 2025 anniversary events.
• The prize is open to all members of the Gates Cambridge community, and both individual scholars and teams, where a Gates Cambridge scholar plays a substantial role, are eligible.
• There are 8 winners for the Gates-Cambridge Impact Prize, 2025 including Professor Urbasi Sinha, faculty at the Raman Research Institute (RRI) for the theme in the Light and Matter Physics.
• Professor Urbasi Sinha – Is a researcher in both quantum fundamentals and technologies.
• She is the head of the Quantum Information and Computing (QuIC) lab at Raman Research Institute (RRI).
• RRI an autonomous institute of Department of Science and Technology.
• Her lab was one of the first in India to manufacture and establish the usage of heralded and entangled photon sources towards various applications in the following areas:
  • Quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum optics and quantum fundamentals and information processing.
• The achievements by the Professor Urbasi Sinha includes:
  • Awarded the prestigious Rashtriya Vigyan Yuva Puraskar by the Government of India.
  • A recipient of the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Photonic Quantum Science and Technologies, University of Calgary, Canada.
  • She has played a leading role in the creation of the Open Quantum Institute (OQI), first of its kind multi-stakeholder institution, launched at CERN in March 2024.
  • An affiliate member, Institute for Quantum Computing, Waterloo, Canada, and the Centre for Quantum Information and Quantum Computing at the University of Toronto.

Amangarh Tiger Reserve (ATR)

• Amangarh Tiger Reserve is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district.
• ATR was originally part of the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
• After the creation of Uttarakhand in 2000, ATR remained in Uttar Pradesh, separated from its famous counterpart.
• Out of the 3 Tiger Reserves in Uttar Pradesh, Amangarh Is Emerging as an Important Eco-tourism.
• Apart From Tigers, 105 Elephants are reported in elephant census-2019.
